Our Trustees

Dr Danny Sriskandarajah

Danny is CEO of the New Economics Foundation. Previous roles include CEO of Oxfam GB, Secretary General of CIVICUS, Director of the Royal Commonwealth Society, Interim Director of the Commonwealth Foundation and various posts at the Institute for Public Policy Research.. He is a Trustee of the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation and has previously been a Trustee of the Baring Foundation, Comic Relief, Disasters Emergency Committee and Praxis Community Projects. He has been a member of two United Nations High Level Panels, on digital co-operation and humanitarian finance, and was a member of the Independent Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society. Danny holds a Masters and Doctorate from Oxford University, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Sydney.

Lola Young, Baroness of Hornsey

Lola Young, Baroness of Hornsey became one of the first Black Women members of the House of Lords in 2004. Raised in foster care in north London, she studied at the New College of Speech and Drama, then worked as an actress, before becoming Professor of Cultural Studies at Middlesex University. Later, she worked in arts administration before receiving an OBE in 2001 and becoming an independent crossbench member of the House of Lords. She is active in campaigns on modern slavery and ethical fashion. In 2017 she was on the Man Booker Prize judging panel, and she is also Chancellor of the University of Nottingham.

Paul van Zyl

Paul van Zyl is the Co-founder and CEO of The Conduit, a community and platform for people committed to building a just, prosperous and sustainable future. A human rights lawyer and social entrepreneur, Paul served as Executive Secretary of the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, working alongside Nelson Mandela. He later co-founded the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), a global human rights organisation based in New York City and received the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship in 2009 alongside Juan E. Mendez. Paul is also a TED Fellow and a Young Global Leader recognised by the World Economic Forum.  Paul was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Law by the University of Santa Clara.
